HE’S doing what any holidaymaker might do while relaxing by the river on a city break: enjoying a spot of water-skiing after a leisurely lunch at a riverside restaurant.
But rather than being on the Thames, the Seine or the Danube, British tax adviser Rob Sinclair took to the water on the River Tigris running through war-torn central Baghdad, where drunken onlookers are apparently partial to taking pot shots at passers-by.
However, despite the obvious dangers of taking a break in Iraq, Sinclair has become one of many foreigners who cannot resist the lure of a holiday in a country which is still a virtual war zone...
"It was a little nerve-wracking, as the river is very polluted, and on the banks there are usually quite a few drunks who we were told might shoot at us for fun. But, then again, it would have been something to have had on the gravestone - shot dead while water-skiing in Baghdad."
